Amazon’s acquisition of Whole Foods last year sent shock waves through the grocery industry. We can still barely perceive the outlines of what Amazon is really up to---in large part because this country’s antitrust laws were written around 1900, when the public’s biggest worry was that someone might monopolize the railroads. In The Future of Grocery Shopping, we took a look at the brave new world that awaits us in (and out of) the supermarket.

Burns Day, the anniversary of Robert Burns’ birth, falls on January 25. That may not be a big deal for many Americans, but in Scotland the day is practically a national holiday. In honor of the bard’s birth, the folks at Caorunn Small Batch Gin came up with the Cranachan Cocktail. It’s based on a traditional Scottish dessert of whipped cream, honey, fresh raspberries and whisky, along with toasted oats steeped overnight in the same whisky. There’s still time to make one and join the party.
