Eat Drink, Journey, Issue #012 -- 3/20/2017
March 20, 2017
Hello all,

The big news this past week was our coverage of Moet Hennessy's release of Ao Yun, their super-premium red wine from the foothills of the Himalayas. It is a remarkable story on many levels. The vines are located at nearly 9,000 feet, requiring the vineyard workers to use oxygen masks. Grapes are transported to the winery by yak. You get the picture. If you thought this wine was a publicity stunt, think again: it's an elegant and graceful expression of Cabernet Sauvignon, and I'm grateful to be one of the few wine writers in the country to taste it.

In other posts, we explored two other singular products: Carpano, sometimes referred to as "the King of Vermouth," and the outstanding Facundo Rum Collection from Bacardi.

Here are last week's posts:

Carpano: The King of Vermouth

Ao Yun: Moet Hennessy Flies Above the Clouds

Bacardi: The Facundo Rum Collection
