Hello all,

What price do you have to pay for fame, glory, greatness and culinary immortality? For celebrated American chef Thomas Keller, last week's price was $10 million, and that was just an installment. $10 million was the tab for the renovation of his three-star Michelin restaurant in Napa, The French Laundry: an overhaul that gained him no additional seating space, and addressed only the kitchen and wine cellar. Last week's most popular post examined the motivations that may have caused Keller to cough up that much cash.

In other news, we visited the legendary Holiday Isle Tiki Bar in Islamorada, Florida, reviewed the various methods of preserving leftover wine, and raised the question of whether it was simply too hot to be growing grapes in Sonoma County.
